Rental Terms

All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

To hire a vehicle from us, you need to:

A valid full driving licence appropriate for the chosen vehicle is required, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. 3. Reservations and Payment

  • Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Portishead office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle collection. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

  • At the time of vehicle collection, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as when collected; refueling fees will apply if not met. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please notify us promptly, as additional charges may apply. You will also be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.

Insurance and Responsibility

  • Basic third-party insurance is included with every rental in Portishead. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Optional insurance packages may be available to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the advance notice given. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows might incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Vehicle Uses

  • Prohibited uses of the vehicle include any illegal activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky maneuvers is not permitted. The transport of hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. Vehicles cannot be used for purposes they are not intended for, nor can they exceed established passenger or weight limits. Additionally, driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires explicit permission.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Restrictions

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Portishead will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will be limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or for fraudulent activity.

Portishead Legal Framework

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
